Review of “The Chinese Wine Renaissance”

Finished reading The Chinese Wine Renaissance by Jante Z. Wang this weekend. A very informative deep-dive into not only the history of wine in China but also the country itself. The book focuses heavily on grain based wines which historically have had a bigger role than grape or fruit based wines in China.

My favorite part has to be the way she intertwines the history of China’s dynasties with its interest in wines during those times. The only thing I would have liked to see was more background and details on the current grape wineries around China. I felt that section was too small. I guess that’s a good enough reason to write a sequel!
