This 1934 Adega Viuva Gomes wine from Colares, Portugal got me back in the vintage wine tasting saddle this weekend. Colares is a small region and is well known for using the Ramisco grape. I found this wine to still be remarkably tannic which is something Ramisco is known for anyway. Its notes included soft leather and mild tobaccos with a hint of dried fig and something earthy. Overall I found it to be less floral than Riojas from the same decade, but was still an overall solid wine for its age.
